A bit of an education theme this week:
- NYC Public School Students Participate in the Green Cup Challenge (Tonic): New York is the first major city to advocate the Challenge across the entire public school system.
- Teaching urban sustainability to tomorrow’s leaders (SmartPlanet): CUNY City College introduces a one-year graduate program on Sustainability in the Urban Environment.
- Expanding Use of Wind Power Feasible, but May Be Costly (The New York Times): There’s a regional dispute over who should get wind power, the Midwest or the Northeast, and what that means for the national grid. It seems New York State would prefer to focus on improving grid connections with Quebec.
- PSC Extends Renewable Energy Funding (EcoPolitics Daily from the NYLCV): A stop gap measure to the state fund that provides incentives for alternative energy projects. The part of the program for individuals expired at the end of 2009.
